Legionella Control Association (LCA) Member
In addition to our commitments to providing the best Legionella and Water Hygiene Services uRisk is an LCA member. Where we have existing City & Guilds Qualifications and Health and Safety Accreditations with Safe Contractor and Construction Online.
The Legionella Control Association (LCA) is a voluntary organisation whose membership comprises providers of services and products concerned with the control of legionella bacteria in water systems. The primary aim is to keep water systems safe and minimise the risk of cases of Legionnaires’ disease caused by poorly maintained systems.
The LCA was founded in 1999 by the British Association for Chemical Specialities (BACS) and the Water Management Society (WMSoc). A Recommended Code of Conduct for Service Providers concerned with controlling the risk of legionella was formulated and launched. Companies and individuals were invited to pledge to a number of commitments making up the Code of Conduct with the specific objective of raising standards in the control of legionella bacteria in water systems.

City & Guilds has over 130 years of experience in vocational education, having been created in response to the needs of business to develop a pipeline of well-trained talent. They have continually built on that heritage to create vocational services that continue to meet the changing needs of business in the UK and around the world.
They work with over 10,000 centres worldwide and almost 2 million individuals trust City & Guilds with their futures every year.
Accredited Laboratories
uRisk works with UKAS accredited laboratories for water testing including legionella sampling and analysis. UKAS is appointed as the national accreditation body by the Accreditation Regulation 2009 (S.I No 3155/2009) and the EU Regulation (EC) 765/2008 and operates under a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government through the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.
UKAS has well-established, transparent and repeatable assessment procedures applicable to all forms of conformity assessment, and so the benefits of collaborating with UKAS can:
- Reduce the need for central and local government to employ their own specialist assessment personnel. Accreditation provides the assurance for Government to rely on commercial providers of evaluation and inspection services.
- Build business and public trust
- Provide an alternative to Regulation whilst ensuring the reliability of activities that have the potential to impact on public confidence, health and safety or the environment.
- Enable innovation in the private and public sectors
