Customer: Dental Practice Location: West Midlands
The Problem
uRisk had been contacted by a dental practice with 5 premises. The practice had recently purchased online legionella DIY testing kits which returned positive 3 out of the 5. The sampling company had recommended urgent action is required which is when they reached out to uRisk.
Legionella bacteria is common in water systems that are not being managed correctly. The uRisk team has a wealth of experience with the control and management of legionella to ensure the risk is reduced for our customers. We’re here to help and support you, with education to better understand legionella.
Our Findings
After reviewing the sample reports it was found that the sample had been taken from areas that were not used by customers. And were not impacting the dental lines which were supplied by reverse osmosis water purchased in drums and not filtered at the premises. This significantly reduced the risk of exposure to legionnaires disease.
The positive sample results were found on instant water heaters in all practices, as they were found faulty and infrequently used. This meant that the sample results were isolated.
The Solution
Legionella Remedial Works
The faulty instant water heaters were removed and replaced with working heaters to ensure that the water temperatures were sufficient to be compliant and reduce the risk from legionella.
