What is a Health and Safety Risk Assessment?
Every employer with five or more employees has a legal duty to conduct risk assessment under the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 and The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. Risk assessments are essential tools for managing the safety of your premises, and can be used to maintain health and safety of employees, visitors and contractors who make use of your premises. More specifically there are focused risk assessments and testing required for higher risks to health and safety such as:
- Health and Safety Risk Assessment
- Fire Risk Assessment
- Legionella Risk Assessment
- Asbestos Survey
- PAT Testing
Who should conduct Health and Safety Risk Assessments?
A competent person is required to undertake risk assessments and management of health and safety, whether that is for a legionella risk assessment, PAT Testing or the like. You can determine whether an individual is a suitably competent person by answering the following questions:
- Have they got the relevant training and qualifications?
- Do they have practical knowledge and experience?
- Do they have the appropriate skills and technical ability to develop solutions to the problems and risk identified?
People with the right level of training, qualification, knowledge, experience, and technical ability internally within an organisation is rare. This is why the HSE recommended appointing an external specialist for helping you to meet Health and Safety requirements.
Health and Safety Service Provider
Under the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 and The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, duty holders, including employers and those in control of premises, must ensure the health and safety of their employees or others who may be affected by their undertaking.
During the Health and Safety risk assessment carried out by one of our competent assessors, we will undertake a complete survey of the premises for factors such as Fire, Water, Asbestos, PAT Testing. As a safety services provider we provide services to help identify potential risks with a comprehensive report for you outlining any risks within your premises. Book a risk assessment today!
Health & Safety and Landlords
The law around Health & Safety states that if you are a landlord and rent out a property you own, or a room within the home, then you have legal responsibilities to protect your tenants and keep them safe from health hazards; do not take this responsibility lightly. Failing to comply with the law can result in fines and prosecution in some extreme cases if convicted of a health & safety offence.
Tenants should be informed by their estate agents or the landlord directly of any control measures that are in place at the property and anything that needs to be maintained while at the property.
uRisk provides Health & Safety Risk Assessment for single property landlords, multiple property landlords, estate agents, letting agents and property management companies to help prevent injury.
