Water Softener Installation
Water softeners are designed to remove the hardness of minerals from the hard water supply that covers the majority of the UK, particularly in the south of England. Removing these minerals eliminates scale in the pipework, tap fittings, shower fittings and reduces the production of aerosol that increases the risk of deadly diseases such as Legionnaires’ disease.
Water softeners have three main components: the resin tank for absorbing unwanted minerals, the brine tank for salt to softener the water, and the control head which controls the operation of the water softener. In order to keep your water soft and free from hard water, regular water softener servicing should be carried out to avoid costly water softener repair works.
Why should I have a water softener service provider?
Over time the performance of a water softener will decline without regular water softener servicing. It is essential to ensure that the water softener continues to perform at optimum efficiency to ensure water quality and cost-effectiveness. By regularly servicing your water softener all downstream fittings are protected from the damaging effects of hard water.
uRisk offer a range of cost-effective water softener servicing and repairs that can be bespoke to your requirements to ensure your water softener operates correctly and extends the product life. Preventative servicing is a long term service that extends product life and reduces large expensive repair works.
How do I know if I need a water softener?
The ground in the UK is predominantly made up of limescale, particularly in the South and South East. There are 2 ways that you can identify if you might benefit from a water softener. One, you notice limescale build up on your appliances, taps and shower heads. This is a key indicator that you may have heavy scale in your more expensive assets such as hot water cylinders and boilers. Two, you can order a hard water test with uRisk, if your water returns above 300ppm, you have very hard water, and will benefit from having a water softener installed.
How much does a water softener installation cost?
When considering installing a water softener, there are 2 variables that you should consider. One, the type of water softener you wish to install. And 2, the time it will take to install the type of installation you need. Contact uRisk today for a competitive quote.
How long will the water softener installation take?
On average, a water hygiene engineer will spend 2-3 hours on site to install a domestic water softener. And on a commercial water softener, the best part of a day should be allowed. Time spent on-site may vary depending on the size and model of your water softener along with the access and available information and records for the water softener.
We service all types of Water Softeners
Non Electric
Non electric water softeners are supplied by the incoming mains water supply pressure. Therefore it only needs salt added to keep it running efficiently. Dual tank versions are known for being very reliable and keeping your water softened throughout the day.
ION Exchange (salt based)
A salt based water softener that passes water through a tank filled with resin beads. The ion-exchange process removes hard water minerals and swaps them for harmless sodium ions that soften the water.
Simplex Commercial
The low cost single cylinder water softener can provide softened water at a small price. However, these softeners are simple by design and do not work well with demanding water. They often regenerate at night which means salt is not used efficiently.
Duplex Commercial
Twin cylinder water softeners are much better at dealing with changing water usage and despite being small they can deal with higher water demands. They comprise of two tanks which means while one is recharging the other can still operate, reducing downtime and maximising salt usage.
